Deliciously rich and fudgy chocolate brownies that are easy to make and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl until completely melted, cooling slightly before the next step.
  3. Mix the granulated sugar into the melted butter until fully combined.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl.
  6. Incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  7. Add chocolate chips or nuts if using.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

Notes

Avoid overmixing to ensure the brownies remain fudgy. Check for doneness around the 20-minute mark.
