Delightful cookies perfect for Halloween, featuring M&M’s and fun decorations.

Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Halloween M&M’s (or regular M&M’s)
  • ¼ cup Halloween sprinkles with candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dry mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Cream the sugars and butter: In a stand mixer, beat the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 4 minutes.
  3. Add the egg mixture: Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until well combined.
  4. Combine mixtures: With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in M&M’s and sprinkles until evenly distributed.
  6. Chill the dough: Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  7. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Shape the cookies: Use a medium cookie scoop to form balls of dough and place them on the baking sheet.
  9. Bake the cookies for 12 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden brown.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for optimal texture and flavor.
